Please REVERT the low pop loot nerf!

Recommended Posts

Love the patch, nice work guys!

The only problem is:

- Loot
Servers total spawned items will now scale depending on number of players online (1 player = 800, 35 players = 2200)

That makes it extremely painful to get loot in low pop servers.

High Pop = Not for looting.  Mostly PVP.  You tend to LOSE gear here.  People don't PVP and win, then immediately go bank the loot.  They continue to PVP, until killed, and a lot of the loot generated by PVP despawns.  You can only carry so much.

Low Pop = For looting.  When you get low on certain gear, you go farm some low pop for a while to build back up.

As it currently stands, looting in low pop is worthless.  Please REVERT THIS CHANGE!  Do not scale normal loot to the number of players in the server.

FYI, nobody is going to want to rent a Private Server that has nerfed loot tables.

Other than that, great patch!

Agreed.  Hopefully they will re-think this and tweak the loot back again.

Hi guys!

I did change the loot so that 1-5 players will be 900 items (100 more than last patch).

We made this decision as we felt people are farming gear way to fast, if people can fill their global inventory in a few days this will mean there's not much longevity in the farming aspect.

We will be keeping an eye on feedback on the loot, and make changes as required. We do hear that for some players it is a little low - but we are still working on balancing the loot aspect of the game.

Hope this information helps.

Cheers

The main problem is.....

PVP = Fun

Looting = Not Fun

We were doing some hard PVP on Saturday, ended up down about 10 guns and 1500 rounds.  You can't make that back farming in low pop unless you're going to loot 10 times the amount of time you PVP.

We logged in today to farm some.  After 1 hour of getting very little PVP worthy stuff, we logged out and played Overwatch.

The game is early access and I think its okay to try out lower the loot in low pop servers like this.

I only think it is jarring at the moment because most of us with stacked GI, probably got those inventories from farming airport or military on low pop servers. So now we are essentially stuck trying to find ways to get our loot back.

I'm mostly waiting for events. Keep the loot exactly where it is depending on the population of the server and just add more events to earn loot. Like kill 50 robots in Riverton/Riversdale to unlock a jailcell in the policestation that gives an AR and 100 ammo or something. I don't mind "farming" or "looting" in a low pop server. But I feel you should work for it if you want to get items in a low pop server, not just walk around and pick up stuff.

Fill cars up with gas, kill robots, Turn power back on to the city. Something where you get paid for your time, rather than paid for your luck.

According to you that is what is fun and what isn't fun.

This game isn't overwatch or call of duty, this is a SURVIVAL game.  Looting is part of surviving.

Ok, let's say they split the game and forced everyone to make a choice.

You choose 1 or 2 below:

1.  Xera PVP, no looting, just choose guns from a list and go PVP.

2.  Xera PVE, all looting, and no PVP.

If you're honest, you'll choose 1.

Why?  Because Option 2 isn't even a game.  There's no story, no questing, no base building, etc.  Xera isn't Fallout 76.  In Xera if you remove the PVP there's no more game there.  You literally walk around and pick things up endlessly and occasionally shoot some robots.

1 I would pay for.  2 I wouldn't even think about playing, let alone buying.  I'm all for looting.  What I'm not for is a 10 to 1 ration of looting to PVP (100 minutes of looting gets you 10 minutes of PVP).

You're just making up arbitrary scenarios to fit your agenda. Personally, I would not play either of the options you presented.

The common terminology in your post is "I" when expressing your distaste. I understand that you're not happy, but using the old "I even quit to go play another game" isn't going to solidify your position. Players like that usually don't stick around anyway.

I love how people dodge questions when it would expose their bias.

The game just split.  You can only get a copy of PVP or PVE now.

You choose one.

p.s.  FYI I played DayZ Mod for 2 years.  Original WarZ for 1-2 years.   If the game is FUN, our group sticks with them.  DayZ Standalone (less than 40 hours) it sucked.  SCUM (less than 40 hours) it sucked.

Honestly lets put it like this.

XERA; SURVIVAL

There can be a balance between looting and pvp. I mean god damn. I loot an PVP At the same time even on high pops. Its somewhat enjoyable until you run into a 4 man that is.

You guys honestly have no respect for the whole title. You read it and bought it. Expecting it to be PURE PVP and in that term if you wanted PURE pvp then you should've gone with something else. The fact is here you expected something and you wanted it to be more pvp than PVE.

This game literally is a PVE/P. You can get snipers from super robots and loot them possibly. Loot isnt insanely hard, you are just being lazy at this point. You want to dumb down the game so its literally just no risk no reward type of play style and thats what this is trying NOT to be.

Given that loot is a little jumbled, this is a process and it needs time to fix.

I mean god damn. Ive been farming robots and super robots the past few days whilst PVP'ing off an on. Im top 30 for Experience.

NVG Helmet doesnt drop hardly at all, AR-15's are Uncommon now. Don't see them too often dropping in low pops, meds still are not that hard to come by if you know which place. Armors are a little stance between uncommon an common. .223 Ammo doesnt spawn that much either compared to .45 ACP Rounds and per say 9mm that is as well but that I guess is to be expected so people have to work a bit for it.

BE PATIENT - ITS EARLY ACCESS AND ITS A PROCESS TO FIX AN WORK ON

PS. LOOT ISN'T SUPPOSE TO CATER TO YOUR WHIM.

I played WarZ until its end time an I even played ISS Thailand.

This game can get both right where its not dumbed down and still good as a PVP title. Just being stingy about it.

SCUM was awful and I regret buying it because ammo and everything was so damn elite hard or made PVP so flakey because of the AT's walking around blasting at you on good loot spots. PVE was a struggle on that and boy it was hard.

You can't offer two not applicable scenarios for the game and argue bias if you don't choose one. You're obviously not understanding the context of the situation. Option #1 exists already...in many forums.
The balance of PVP and looting is what sets this game apart from others. You're still using your idea of fun as a blanket of subjectivity.

As i stated in the other thread, looting will lead to the most PVP in this type of game. If everyone already is geared out without needing to replenish their stash, then you'll have 40 scopes pointed at the military tents with nothing to shoot at. No matter how much gear you have, you'll always have a need (or want) to loot. Thus, PVP.

Based on the changes made, and the feedback of the general community (not vocal minority), I'm sure the game will be adjusted within reason.

Think of it this way.

Imagine a game like PUBG. You jump out of the plane with a full loadout but there is no ring to force movement. Now you're heavily geared..on a large map.

How much PVP will there be, really?

Without the need to loot, why would anyone ever move?

That is basically Option #1 as you've proposed.

I've played hundreds of hours of PUBG.

You go from zero loot to fully kitted in about 10 minutes.  And I'm not talking ok loot, I'm talking guns of choice, level 2 everything, all the meds you need.

There's tons of PVP.   <------------There's also a LOT more players, millions and millions of players.  Why?  Because PVP is fun.

You're not even making sense.

People aren't going to put up with 100 minutes of looting for every 10 minutes of PVP they get.

We won't be renting a private server either.  Why bother?  If the loot is garbage in low pop, it'll be garbage in your private server.

Now if you want hardcore servers to have low loot in, I'm 100% on board.  I don't have to play in those ones, and you don't have to play in the high loot servers.

There is tons of PVP because there is a ring constantly forcing movement.

Take away the ring and the need to loot, and how much PVP is there?

The entire point is that you're trying to force Xera to conform to a particular playstyle of gaming that already exists. As you mentioned, Overwatch, etc.

There was tons of PVP in the original WarZ.  <---------relatively high loot

There was tons of PVP in DayZ Mod.   <---------very high loot

Millions played those games because they were fun.

Why do games like SCUM (very similar experience) die?  https://steamcharts.com/app/513710

Because they're boring grind fests with little PVP.  They have little PVP because of TOO MUCH loot grind.

The SCUM decline was a product of two issues.

1. it was over-hyped and undelivered.

2. It's playerbase went back to school in September of '18

DayZ mod did not have very high loot at all, by the way. You're probably thinking of Epoch or Overpoch.

Wow, so when they got out of school this past summer in 19...............they never came back?  No, they left permanently because it's a boring survival game.

DayZ Epoch and Overpoch and Origins had all the players because it was fun with good loot.

If you add those 3 mods.............there were 13 of those servers for every 1...............yes I said ONE of every other server type possible.

That includes low loot Vanilla.  <------------- The least popular DayZ mod.

See #1 as to why they never came back. Under-delivered. SCUM hasn't had any pertinent updates since then, plus, other games have come out in a similar genre. Why would they come back?

Can you provide any verifiable data to enforce that ratio? That seems arbitrary.

You're also looking at a false equivalence.

Those mods brought content in the form of weapons and base building.

Content brings players.

I don't have the data anymore, because I researched that ratio for another survival game that flopped........H1Z1 (the ratio was 13 to 1 during the H1Z1 period).  I was making the same argument back then.  Now H1Z1 doesn't exist.

The more casual and fun games are, the longer they last.

The more boring and grindy they are, the quicker people move on.

There are STILL players playing Epoch, Overpoch, and Origins today, 6 years after launch.

I agree with OP. Please do not make this a farming game, that was one of the big problems with h1z1.

We didn't give a hoot about the base building.  Minecraft has better base building.  Your bases in Epoch were limited to walls, doors, and safes.

We played it for 2 years because the PVP was fun.  It didn't take forever to grind, then go get a "small taste" of PVP.  It was "loot a little" then "go have fun PVPing".

It was the same in WarZ..........the loot to PVP ratio was about 1 to 1.  One hour of looting, one hour of PVP.
